'A Time to Change'
Our current Year 4 children made a film in school last June, when they were Year 3 pupils, as part of a film workshop with Berry Productions. They were studying the topic of climate change and incorporated their ideas and knowledge into the film. All forty three children were involved in the planning, creating, filming and editing, parents were included and invited into school to help make the props with the children.
Our film 'A Time to Change' won the Hoscars (Hull Oscars) in July 2015 - best fictional film.

The short film is currently screening in several international festivals and won the Best Short Film Award at the Handle Climate Change Film Festival in China.
These are the festivals that our film is showing in:
Lahore International Children's Film Festival - Pakistan
Adelaide Kids Film Festival - Australia
International Green Culture Festival - Servia
We also entered the UK CAFOD competition organised by the Climate Coalition and our film is to receive a special mention, the only film within the 8-12 age range. As part of the reward for this our children took part in a one day workshop about Climate change organised by Into Film. Five children from the group have been invited to represent the school at a further film workshop at the Waterloo Centre in London and to the Close-Up on Climate Event at the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday 4th November.
The children, staff and parents of St Mary Queen of Martyrs Academy are very proud of these achievements!
